[Xbox] New FBANext WIP

It’s been a while since my last post here. I don’t seem to have as much time these days as i used to. Some good news is that i’ve been working on FBANext. I have intergrated the codebase with the Win32 0.2.97.21 and have SVN access into the repository so i can keep updated much easier going forward. Big thanks to the FBAlpha devs for this!

0.2.97.21 gives us many many new features since the Beta 2.2 build including:

PC Engine TG16 Driver
NeoGeo CD Driver
NeoGeo MVS Slot loader
Irem drivers
DataEast drivers
Toaplan sound fixes
many new drivers added

[libXenon] SQL-Quake

I’ve been working on a full fledged port of SDL for LibXenon and its at a stage where its good enough be released.

the repository is located at

Currently the following features are implemented in SDL

- Graphics
- Audio (some audio formats are probably still buggy)
- Joysticks (all 4 are supported)
- Threads (hasn’t really been tested)

To compile up grab the latest source from the repository and use:

‘make -f Makefile.xenon install’ to build/install SDL in your environment

As a testbed, ive ported SDLQuake in parallel with libSDLXenon

[Xbox] Amiga360 – Hardfiles, Sockets and more

I’ve spent the last few weeks implementing Hardfile support (completed), Filesystem support (completed), Picasso96 support (completed). Last night i fixed a few bugs and now have the first signs of BSDSocket emulation working under Amiga360. Just sit tight a little longer guys

Just a quick Amiga 360 update. I’ve scrapped using E-UAE as the source for the emulation. I’ve found while its OK, it has compatability issues and im not happy with.

I’ve now switched over to PUAE (https://github.com/GnoStiC/PUAE) – which is written by GnoStiC and an effort to merge in the latest WinUAE codebase across to E-UAE. It has much better compatability and fixes and has active development.

Being an Amiga fan, this is important to get the best possible emulation on the Xbox 360 and it is definetly the right way going forward. As a result however, i scrapped all the old Amiga360 code and started over. However, things are progressing quickly and a release should be soon. Right now, this is all i am focused on (MAME, FBANext etc are all on the backburner) until this is released.

MAME 0.72 News

Just a quick note for the 5 people out there who didn’t know it yet. Squarepusher64 has taken on the job of porting MAME 0.72 to the PS3. We have set up a source code respository located here. We are also looking to give this project a new name. Ideas are welcome

Whats New
=========

- Fixed sound issues
- Added basic options screen.
- Removed software filters and Added Pixel shaders. Additional filters will be added later.
- Source code has been included in this release.

Usage
=====

You will need to find roms that work with MAME 0.72

By default roms will go into GAME:\roms

The mame.ini [Directories] option can be modified so that will hold up to 4 seperate rom paths. Valid devices are:

Cheat menu can be enabled in the [General] section. To enable cheat menu set CheatsEnabled = 1 in the mame.ini

CheatsEnabled = 1

To toggle VSync. The following option can be modifed:

Previews are .png format and go into GAME:\Screenshot

Controls
========

Controls can be configured easily via the mame configuration menu. The defaults set are:

- Back + Start to exit back to menu
- Right Thumb to enter Configuration Mode
- Left Thumb for On Screen Display

Todo
====

- Filters
- Add additional UI options
- Additional graphics options. Resizing/scaling etc.

Bugs
====

- Minor sound issues.
- A small number of roms will crash with a ‘Fatal Exception’ error.
- Some roms have palette/sprite (endian) issues.
- Some roms have screen aspect ratio issues.
